About the author
tohode is built by Sam Liebl, who lives in the Triangle and built this because finding out what was on nearby meant checking eleven different websites, and he wanted it to mean checking one.
He writes a lot of small, self-contained things: a CSS framework, an offline transcription tool, a couple of half-finished ports of libraries he wanted in another language. tohode is the one that got away from him and turned into a website with other people’s accounts on it.
The house style here is visible in the code: no build step, one file for a database, plain HTML rendered on the server and a strong preference for saying “we do not know” over guessing. Most of the interesting decisions in this project were refusals.
